Coming Back
Charlie Weis will be coming back for a 5th season next year.
He spoke to the media at the football banquet.
Here is what he had to say,
"6-6 is not acceptable," Weis explained. "I think that it's important that you are moving towards the BCS discussion. I don't think you can just be a mediocre football team at Notre Dame." "I'm not saying you need to be playing for the national championship ever year but you have to be in the discussion. If you are not in the discussion, I don't think that's anything anyone that went to Notre Dame or roots for Notre Dame would be looking for." "Decent is not what Notre Dame is looking for," Weis said. "Notre Dame is looking for a good team and I think that's the next logical step that you are looking for."
That is the kind of coach I want to have. One who knows that "decent" is not good enough.
What do you think?

Well I already posted about the first good Titans game this year with the Colts. That game was for my best friend and me.
The second good Titans game this year is today at Chicago against the Bears. This game is for my brother and me.
Of course me being Titans and obviously Thomas being Bears.
Enjoy the game Grossman...HaHa

Offseason
Red Sox are now in their off season and have quite a bit of free agents. Here are my thoughts
Players I think we should bring back:
Jason Varitek
Mark Kotsay
Sean Casey
Players I think we should not bring back
Bartolo Colon
Mike Timlin
Paul Byrd
and yes Curt Schilling
We already picked up Tim Wakefields option for 2009 which is awesome to still have the knuckler!
If we do not bring back Mark Kotsay and Sean Casey I think we should go after Mark Teixeira, I would not mind having Pat Burrel either. C C would be awesome to add and in all honesty if he promised to actual play, I would love to have Man Ram back.

A New Me
Any body who knows me, knows that I love to eat. Kind of why I am going into Culinary. But I have eaten to much, enjoyed pop a few too many times. Have not really tried to run it off (the calories and sodium, and all that junk, that is).
So in an effort to be the "fit" Matt I used to be I am going to, starting on Monday, drink no pop AT ALL, go to the gym at least four times a week, eat breakfast every morning, and stop eating a midnight snack.
Do not worry I do not think I am fat and need to lose a hundred pounds, I just want to be fit again and be able to run for hours like I used to.
I want to say a special thank you to Corey Mann, Lavon Kil(my mother), and Lauren Makowski. You guys are my inspiration.
NEVER, NEVER QUIT!
This a poster I have had in my room for a long time now...the scripture reads, Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12

I am SO blessed to have the family and friends that are in my life! You guys are absolutely amazing and I can not thank you enough. For any one who reads this and has helped at any point in my life, THANK YOU! You guys give and give and give and do not expect any thing in return. Do not worry some day Chewy's Diner will open and all family and friends are welcome! I love you guys
THANKS

Driving
Sorry that I have not posted about my accident and told everyone about it yet. I was waiting because I took pictures on my phone and I was going to wait until I got pictures on my computer. For some stupid reason I can not get them up.
So anyways I was getting ready to go to school one morning and I almost stayed home because I was not feeling well that morning and I felt as if I was going to vomit. I live on State Road 23 which is a VERY busy street with the speed limit at 50MPH. Every time I pull out of my driveway I look three to four times. As I approached the end of my wet and a little foggy driveway I came to a complete stop and looked three times both ways. I saw nothing on either side except for a car coming on the right side about 150 yards away (the lights were all I could see). So I proceeded to pull out making a left turn. As I pulled out and got three fourths of the way out...BAM, CRASH, CRAP, DADS GOING TO KILL ME!!!!!!! I got hit in the rear drivers side door by a Jeep Cherokee going at least 50MPH. My car was totaled and I could not open either of the drivers side doors from the inside or outside. The rear doors window totally busted out. Most of the glass went in the back seat but quite a bit went on the hood, windshield, and on my seat. My rear axle was busted and tire flat! I could just barely open my trunk.
I was okay and the girl and boy were okay in their car. The girl driving was only sixteen years old and the boy in the car with her was only eighteen. Everyone walked away with scrapes and bruises but nothing major.
I felt very sore in my neck and my chest where the seat belt laid. My wrists were bruised up and scrapped and my knees hurt.
My Dad did not kill me, he was VERY calm and understanding, and helped me get a new car the next day. A 1998 Honda Accord LX Coupe 2 door. THANK YOU DADDY!
I guess what I am trying to say is, if you feel like you are going to vomit, then just stay home!

New Design
You probably noticed something a little different at the top of my page. Chewy's Diner is what I would like for my Diner's name to be. As of right now no one in the world has it as a Diner's name so nobody take IT!! Thanks

Game Day
Notre Dame vs. North Carolina 3:30
I look for the Irish to show who they really are today. This is their second game on the road and we know how the last one turned out. This team this year is fired up, they want to win, and they want to have fun. The best part of all is so does the coach. Charlie Weis knows what he is doing and these are his recruits. Here are some facts about todays game.
Cameron Sexton is starting at quarterback. He is North Carolina's third stringer! Last week he went 9 of 16 throwing for 117 yards and a touchdown. Thats the whole game! For the year he has a 57.1 completion percentage, 359 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Their running backs are only averaging 120.8 ypg. Everyone says that Notre Dame can not run. We are averaging 103.6 ypg on the ground. So NC only has 17.2 more ypg than the Irish! So if they are struggling running the ball, and have a third string quarterback starting, I believe we have this game...BIG!
Look for the Irish D to step up, Clausen and Allen to have a BIG day, and 1 for 2 on field goals!
Irish WIN.....
31-17

What a Week
First off I want to apologize for not blogging since Monday.
Monday my week started off great... I got accepted to Baker College!!! My first college choice!
Tuesday was a good day, I started off by going to school and I was off from work that day so I spent some time with Lauren. I also got Iron Man on Bluray.
Wednesday started off VERY bad! I got up and did not feel very well, I felt like I was going to vomit. But I had already missed school on Monday so I stuck it out and got ready. I went to pull out of my driver (On State Road 23) it was a bit foggy and still a little dark. I looked both ways and saw no cars coming so I pulled out. I get about half of my car out onto the road and CRASH! I will write more on the crash later. My car was totaled and I got bruised and sore pretty bad.
So Thursday brought another day and I had to go get my crash report, clean my car out, go to State Farm and try to find another car. While my father and I were in his apartment I got a text message from a number I did not recognize but the person told me they needed to tell me something important. So I said okay who is this and whats up? To make the story short my best friend from elementary days was killed from heart and kidney failure.
What a week!

We're IN!!!!!
Cliff Lee could not stop us! We are in the playoffs with winning the AL wild card.
I do not believe we will get the AL east, because I think we are going to rest some of our players in order to be ready for the playoffs and yet again another World Series!!!!!! However if we do I would be VERY happy. As of right now we will be playing the Angles.

What!
I stole this from Corey's blog, but I thought it was neat...
"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia."
(Charles M. Schultz)
... Thanks Corey

Blu Ray versus Standard
I recently purchased a PS3, mainly for the blu ray player, but do love playing games too. Blu Ray is SO worth it. I enjoy watching action movies and Disney animation movies look AWESOME! I just rented "Night at the Museum" and it was amazing in Blu Ray. If you have the extra money and are wondering should I do, Is it really worth it, DO IT!!

Shhh...
Thomas and I were sitting at dinner last night when we happened to hear a little something.
The guy behind us joined his party late because he is the video man for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football squad. He let his friends at the table know something he figured out earlier in practice. He said it quietly... but not quietly enough for us NOT to hear.
So what he said is the Freshman, Joseph Fauria, number 87 is starting at Tight end on Saturday. He is 6'8" and weighs in at 245.
Just thought I would pass that information on.

So for the joy of the two people who do read it I will keep it up and update regularly.
Lauren and I are doing awesome and I can't wait to see how our lives will fold out with each other. Lauren is doing really good, she is working at Memorial hospital and she absolutely loves that. She is also taking classes at Ivy Tech and for the most part likes it, except for the homework. I am going to Penn, my last year, and am aiming for straight A's and trying my best to not miss school at all. I like all my classes and teachers this year. I am also working quite a bit at BuyCo but that is good because I have to work to keep my car and my cell phone.
Today Tom, Lauren, and I are going to the Plymouth Motor Speedway for the Demolition Derby, we are all very excited since we only get to see it once a year. There is going to be the demos, roll over competition, trains, trailer races, and car burning.

I think I'm going to Boston
Oh wait... I am there!!!!!!
We arrived last night at 8:00. The city is amazing and very welcoming. All the people are very nice. It was difficult finding our hotel but then we ask a gas station clerk and he told us we were there just take a left at the light. He was right.
We ate at a restaurant last night called John Harvards. It was really good and the atmosphere was pretty cool. I got Buffalo Mac and Cheese. It was noodles with cheese sauce and chicken with a dash of buffalo sauce. We all got bread and dipping oil with basil. It was absolutely delicious. Then for dessert we got deep dish apple crisp.
Today we are going to FENWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 DOORS DOWN
I absolutely love this band. The drummer is amazing. I just watched them perform live for the Home Run Derby. I remember sitting in my brothers room, Michael, and listening to their prior c.d.'s and I loved them, then as well.
Speaking of the Home Run Derby I am very upset with the people in it. I am going to watch it because I am a huge baseball fan. I would love to see Dan Uggla win because my friend used to play with him and I think it would be neat to see him win. (Oh and just so everyone knows Red Sox are back on top of the AL East.)

Excited and Saddened
So I got a new job at BuyCo and I love it. I have volunteered time working here and at Michiana Used and I have wanted a job in the music, movies, game industry for a long time. I enjoy the people I work with, management, and what we do. I understand how to do it all already so that is a plus.
So why does the title say saddened? Since I do work at BuyCo now I want to buy all the music, movies, and games. I am trying to not purchase anything anywhere because I am going to Boston and I am trying to save my money. It is so very hard and sometimes I do buy something and then later wonder why did I spend that money?
I Would Like To Thank...

LISTEN
I sit at the South Bend Chocolate Factory and listen to the constant hustle and bustle. The sound of the door constantly opening and closing. The sound of family and friends conversations. The sound of plates and silverware banging against each other. The sound of the cash register. The noise from Michael Buble playing from the speakers. What if we all stopped to hear the noises around us? What if all those noises suddenly stopped? Would we hear what God has to say to us? Would we hear what his plans are for us? I know we don't take enough time to stop and listen to God. We take time to listen to our friends and family, but not God, why is that?
A Little Journaling
I just dropped off Lauren at a test she has to take for Memorial Hospital.(Math and English) After driving around for five minutes trying to get a parking spot I gave up, parked my car, and walked to the South Bend Chocolate Factory. I ordered my favorite hot chocolate ever, White Hot Chocolate. I brought my bible with me because as you know I want to start reading my bible everyday. So far I read Acts chapter two. I think its pretty cool because my mother, Lauren, and I have been talking about the end times recently. When I started reading again I didn't remember why but I knew I liked Acts. Chapter two talks about the end times. God says, "In the last days, I will pour out my Spirit" It also talks about what the people are to do. Peter says, "Change your life. Turn to God and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven"

The Bible
Lately I have not been reading the bible at all. It is something I have had a hard time sitting down and doing all my life. I really just do not like to read. I really never understood the bible. I always struggled understanding what it really said. So I ask for the Message Remix for my birthday. Judy had it before and I read a few pages in it and I could actually understand what it was saying. Last night I read Acts Chapter 1. There was a really passage that I got from it.
"As they met and ate meals together, he told them that they were on no account to leave Jerusalem but must wait for what the Father promised"
I just thought it was really neat because last night Patrick, Kyle, John G. and Peggy, and myself met and had a delicious meal together. Thanks again John and Peggy. I think it is so cool that they had their meals together and didn't make something and then go in their own rooms or were too busy to eat together like so many families today.

My Past Weeks
I apologize for not posting like I said I was going to. I don't know why I have not. There is no excuse. I am going to try and keep my promise and post at least once a day.
Well what I have been up to the last weeks I haven't posted.
On May 7th was Laurens birthday. We celebrated by me making her Chicken Parmasean, and opening presents and just enjoying each other. I got her a Beauty and the Beast snow globe and $100 for her to spend on her apartment.
On May 30th the last day of my junior career was over. I finished with a cummulative GPA of 3.2. It went down this year so I look to bring that up next year. I am a senior now and can't wait to go to college and start my career.
On June 1st was my sister in laws birthday. (Sam) We went to Between the Buns and hung out there. It was fun I love spending time with them.
On June 18th was my birthday. I got (I pitched in some money to get it) a new 32" plasma Vizio flat screen tv. I absolutely love it. My mommy got it for me. My dad got me a Red Sox jacket. The same ones the players wear. My brother got me a Red Sox hoody that I have been wanting. Lauren got me the Message Remix bible, a Kevin Garnett t-shirt championship jersey. She still has one more thing for me.
So I have been having a blast enjoying summer vacation and can't wait for July and August fun.
